OK this is the situation, I have several HQ WMV files, for example one of the files has these stats:

    Duration - 19:33
    Dimensions - 960x540
    Size - ~300MB

I have a divx player that can handle most formats but not wmv. So I want to convert them to either mpeg or avi, but keep as much of the quality as possible because these files are really great quality. Have tried using TMPGEnc XPress to convert into avi with following compression xvid divx and huffyuv. Huffyuv was far to large as I want the file to still fit on a cd. xvid and divx quality was a lot lower than original (could be due to my settings?). Any thoughts about options or encoding settings would be great. I'm not to great at all this converting stuff so instructions for a 'simple' person would be nice.

Have looked through the forum and conversion guides but haven't found anything quite right, hope someone can help.

    Thanks in advance

I'd use AutoGK and XviD, set the fixed width to 960 in the advanced settings and set the Target size to 1 CD (700MB).
    If in doubt, Google it.
