I've been burning movies on DVD for a few months now with no problems. All of a sudden, I burned one, and my dvd player wouldn't recognize it. It said "incompatible disc". I put it in my computer and it didn't recognize it. It won't show what's on it. So I tried to burn again, and left it in my burner. I could open it with powerdvd from there, but once I take the dvd out and put it back in, it won't recognize it anymore. what's wrong?

i then updated my nero and it burned fine for one dvd. now it keeps saying

    Burn process failed at 8x

I tried to burn at 4x and it's the same thing. It fails. What's wrong? I'm using the same software and media I've always used. Please help....I've wasted so many dvds trying to get this right.

The first thing I would advise is to try different media. It would eliminate that as the cause. Just because the first disc in the box works doesn't mean the last one will. This is the simplest and easiest thing to check.

Then if there's no change, try cleaning the laser lens in the burner.

From there, try different burning software, upgrade your burner firmware.

    After that, maybe burner replacement.

Also make sure any options for preventing buffer underruns are checked in your burning software, as well as ensuring your IDE ports are not running in PIO mode. You want DMA if available.

Check that Nero is not using "burn at once"
