In another thread (https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=284587), jtoolman2000 replied: "You can also run your burns through Nero CD/DVD Speed to check for read errors. If it passes with flying colors it simply means that the particular drive you used to read the DVD was able to read it."

This reminded me of something I wanted to ask about. Is there some kind of a "yardstick" on this site -- perhaps in the form of a guide -- that classifies the numerical results we see from the error-scanning programs ? Something to indicate that results in this range are Very Good to Excellent, results in that range are Marginal, and in another range Pretty Bad or Lousy ?

Examples from the (limited) testing I've done with DVDinfo to date (version 4.30 -- this was a while ago):

Plextor +R 8X (Yuden000T02 -- don't see these Plextor-branded discs around much any more)
19.3K Read Errors
CRC Test = 5403 Bad Sectors (.32 % -- that's point 32, btw: this forum typeface is so damn small it's hard to read)
This burn was done on the Pioneer 108 in my computer, if that matters.

TDK -R 16X (TTH02)
Speed Test = approx. 59K errors
Write Strategy = 4X (* )
CRC = approx. 22K Bad Sectors (1.25 %)
This burn was done in the Pioneer 520H.

But, relatively speaking, I have NO CLUE whether such results should be considered good, bad, or mediocre.

* Also, in an earlier thread, I asked about the Write Strategy report, but got no answer. If media is rated at 16X, but the diagnostic utility says the write strategy is actually 4X, that isn't so good, is it ?
