As it was suggested to me to look at the conversion guides to
convert dvd to a format that was editable by moviemaker.
I seen guides from every format to dvd but none from dvd to avi or mpeg1.

What program may I use to convert a vob file to avi or mpeg1 format to edit in moviemaker.

    Thanks

    TJ

VirtualDub VOB will import VOBs and allow export to avi - the codec is up to you. The Panasonic DV codec is great for editing but it's 13Gb/hr of footage.

    Your choice.......

p.s. make sure the VOB is one large file otherwise you will get green frames at the ends of each VOB file.

Rip to one big VOB using DVDDecrypter or smartripper. Virtualdub-mpeg2 or virtualdubmod can then open the VOB file. Convert to DV-AVI. Open this AVI in Windows Movie Maker.

If you plan to put this back to DVD, output from WMM as DV-AVI instead of WMV, then convert that to DVD-compliant MPEG-2.
    If in doubt, Google it.
