Hello,
I hope you all can help with a strange problem:
TDA Trial version (27 days left)
Scenario: VCD in PAL format to DVDR
What I did:
Used VCDGear or ISOshrink to create a MPG file from the xxx.dat file.
This created MPG plays on win media player with no problem.
Problem: added the 4 seperate mpg files ( each is about 600 to 700 mb, about 1 hour of video) to TDA and created menus. (bar graph at bottom shows 2235 mb used out possible of 4.7 gigabytes).
I hit the output buttom: 30 to 45 minutes later, it creates the audio_ts file and video_ts file.
I then go to create the ISO image file, and the file is only 414 MB large!!
I burned this DVD and i got the main menu, and about 10 seconds of each of the four clips, the rest is blank.
I redid this many times (each time tring a different way to create the mpg file) ,starting with a cold restart, copying the dat file directly and then converting using both isoshrink and vcdgear, each time I do this, the mpgs are compluiant (checked with gspot) and they work in win media player. BUT each time the iso file that is created by TDA is only 414 MB large.
The strange thing is that I did the exact same thing two days ago with another set of PAL VCDs and put on 4 files, with about a total of 3.7 gb, and tda worked fine, i have a compliant dvdr.
Could this be something disabled in TDA?
Also strange, Sonic my DVD will only let me put one MPG file on each DVD. It somehow upconverts a 700 mb file to a 3.5 gb file.
Any ideas would be helpful.

Sonic is re-encoding.
TMPGEnc DVD Author must be truncating the files for some reason. I'd try rewriting the sequence headers - https://www.videohelp.com/guides.php?guideid=184#184 - or alternatively try demuxing and then remuxing. If in doubt, Google it. -
Thanks for the thoughts. I tried that and it created 10 mb files from the original 600 mb files.
It did give me an idea and i reencoded the original video mpeg using tmpgnc from vcd to vcd, and that created a 600 mb file which i was succesfully able to burn using tda.
can't explain the problem. had no deiscernable drop in quality.

corrupt files, I would have run them through the QuickstreamFix of VideoReDo and then they'd have been Ok without the quality hit of re-encoding them. You may not have noticed a quality drop but there had to be some.
VideoReDo has a trial version for future reference.
Anytime DVD Author does that or refuses to accept a file the file is corrupt and needs fixing.
Cheers.
