it so seems that because of my bragging on video conversion and how it will crush my peers' and their topic's I have been thwarted by my own inability to LOGOUT of nearly anything that is not my paypal or ebay account
although I do not know who did it I do not plan on persuing whoever did it in fear that they will gang up on me, but I do wish to express my sencerist apologies. Also as you may see by the date of this edited post I have not been in this forum for a day now.
I have a new post on this topic if you would like to read it.
It does not contain foul language.

Other then that I'm sure some people around here will have some ideas for you. -
Perhaps some jokester got on his computer, or maybe he just has Turett's.
Video conversion is a pretty broad topic (look at this place!) I think you need to narrow it down or choose a perspective. One really common thing folks want to do is convert their camcorder footage to DVD. -
Multiple personality?
How about how Macrovision could be your worse nightmare if you try and copy home movies with sensitive cards such as the ATI AIW. You can start here: http://www.nepadigital.com/mv/ and see the the sticky in the restoration forum about it.
That'll be different, maybe someone will even pay attention.....Just don't start insulting your self, the prof probably won't like that too much.

Having done something very similar I have a complete range of suggestions and a thorough outline of how to handle this.
However, until I have some explanation of your rude, insulting, and offensive second post I will offer no assistance of any kind, either now or in the future. -
Thank You for your ideas although i no longer plan on teaching the class about such a broad topic as MrMoody had said, but i would still like to take a look at what you have Nelson37 it further my knowledge of video and manipulating it thx.

Right away, give up on teaching everything. Try to narrow yourself down to teaching 2-3 related things, and leave it at that. Don't try to cover every detail about every possible situation.
The first thing you need is an overview of concepts and terminology. Then move into the other topics one by one.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

I did not find it at all humorous. Explanation seems acceptable, suggest you need a better class of friends and/or associates.
Basically, it depends on how much time you have. Could spend a whole class just on What is video, Fields, frames, framerate, broadcast standards, resolution, media, pixels, TV vs PC, LCD vs CRT, interlacing, telecining, reasons for, relation of framerate to electrical standards, cabling, playback devices, software.
This all comes before a discussion of various compression types, methods used, limitations of, variations of, advantages, filesizes, bitrates, audio types, complications caused by, etc.
Then after all this (and more) is covered, then start on types of conversion, which make sense, which to avoid, time and PC power needed, as for software used either pick a few examples or decide to spend several classes just on the various progs used and available.
Somewhere in there you can discuss capturing, suggest limiting discussion to consumer camera-type devices, other sources may have legalistic limitations.
Much depends on class size and makeup, either customize thru Q and A or standardize and figure on much after-class discussion for specialized topics. Depending on environment, you need to be VERY careful in discussing certain subjects, most particularly if you are being paid to teach the class, or compensated in any way.
