    OK. I just received from newegg.com my Benq DW1640 dvd burner. It has th firmware BSJB. Which firmware can I update to? BSLB or BULK GSHB. Which one do I choose? Thanks anyone for the help.

    I has the retail firmware so you can stick with BSLB.

  4. Lots over there going back to BSLB after strange computer lockups and other anomalies after upgrading to BSMB. My opinion stick with BSLB until BenQ figures out what happened with BSMB. Of course there are those that have no problem with the "M" upgrade. Using TY nedia I get 99 quality scores with BSLB. Why change...

    I use BSMB with no problems. I get 98 quality scans using VERBATIM media & 97 with MAXELL media.. I wonder if the problems are caused by using the speedpatch made by ala42. I don't use the speedpatch on my BENQ drives since I have dvdroms for ripping.

    thanks all. I installed BSLB. I have succesfully backup up 10 movies using Sonic 8X DVD-R blanks. So far so good.
