  4. Nice to see some agree with me on how bad War Of The Worlds was...and it was the 2nd highest grossing film of 2005, so far. ??? Geez.

Best movie this year is "Crash"
If you can handle the truth check it out.

Crash only gets limited release and crap like War...Worlds is on 3000+ screens. Just shows people like explosions more than real life exsposing drama with "people" doing the acting and not CGI. Explains a lot about the state of affairs in our current world.

There was another poll about if movies make you cry/ shed a tear. If Crash doesn't do it with the slap of truth you are (to quote another movie) the worlds only living heart donor.
    Enjoy,

I'm glad/reassured there are others who feel same as me about WOTW.

Yes, I find it quite distressing, actually. Social engineering gone completely mad, if you ask me. We live in a plastic indoctrinated pseudo-culture. I see this in human behavior every single day.

The original War Of The Worlds is fantastic! So are a lot of those "classical" sci-fis, such as "Forbidden Planet", "This Island Earth", "The Thing From Another World", "Invasion Of The Body Snatchers", "When Worlds Collide" etc. Real magic! (Hollywood wasn't always evil!) :P

(Is it true Shmaltzberg is remaking "When Worlds Colide" next? OMG, I'm going to kill myself!)

Original "Star Wars", un-remastered, is great fun! The old widescreen laser-disk version is my favourite.

If you read "Easy Riders, Raging Bulls" (highly recommend it to you movie buffs here!), you'll learn that Star Wars triggered the decline of Hollywood.

I'm not saying Star Wars is a bad movie (it's great!). But the money factor exploded (all that merchandising etc), and studios got greedy from 1980 onwards...at the expense of risky, imaginative, creative filmmaking that had been going on through the '70s (and prior).

Now, all we get is the same old formula, regurgitated over and over again. Superficial nonsense with CGI'd action/explosions/FX etc... All spectacle, no substance whatsoever. Un-charismatic "models" instead of actors, etc. (Some "big names", such as Mel Gibson, Nikole Kidman, etc, are simply talentless & unconvincing as "naturalistic" actors.)

What's worse, all the old classics are being remade in this "plastic formula". History is being rewritten, Orwellian style. Social engineering in the extreme (who's behind it?).

I find it scary, to be honest. I think most people probably aren't even aware that "War Of The Worlds" is a remake of an earlier (classic) film.

I wonder, when will Shmaltzberg remake "Jaws"?

    Oh good lord

Thank christ Eps 7-9 were just a vicious unfounded rumour

    I can see it now:

The year is 2027. Yoda, at age 50 (or just under), has found his way into his dream job as a librarian at a secondary (high) school. Now being the gold anniversary of Ep 4, he decides to put on an appreciation night in honour of the momentus occasion. Eps 1-6 shall be played in chronological order (chronological according to the order in which the events happened, not chronological in terms of years the films were made, despite the Gold anniversary being celebrated 50 years after Ep 4, and not 50 years after Ep 1 ).

That COULD happen ....... no, really ...
    If in doubt, Google it.

I left that one open for ya, yoda

Nice perspective, mattso. I agree. I have also enjoyed my LD's of eps. 4,5 & 6. I waited to get all three of eps 1, 2, & 3 on DVD before watching. Still havent got around to it. Maybe soon. The appeal just isnt there like in the 70's & 80's.
And the original War of the Worlds was much better than having to watch Tom's plastic expressions for 2 hrs.
