  1. I have two firewire devices: 1 Sony DVD Burner and 1 Dazzle Hollywood
    Bridge (analog/digital converter).

The Sony DVD works ok in both firewire ports and System Profiler
(Firewire) shows the hardware, but I can't see the Dazzle in System
    Profiler.

There's a message int the system log:

    "iMac-G5 kernel[0]: FireWire (OHCI) Apple ID 52 built-in: 360 bus
    resets in last minute."

I connected the Dazzle other Mac (ibook with tiger too) and the System
Profiler shows "Dazzle Hollywood" and it works ok!

    Please help me!

It sounds like you have a system software issue. Check macfixit.com for reports of Firewire issues and how to fix them. One oftentimes-effective step is to download and apply the latest combined system updater from Apple. Be sure to have all Firewire devices disconnected when applying the updater.

    which version of Tiger?

    iMac and Firewire issues :
Devices that draw power through the FW ports
( I suspect your Dazzle does?)
can cause theFW ports to act like you describe:
I have seen this first hand with FW iSight Cameras.
Best solution is to get a FW (wall powered) HUB,
like the Belkin or the MacAlly ones.
Plug the Dazzle into that, and then plug the hub
into the iMac. Should then recognize it correctly.

  4. I'm using 10.4.3 now, but the problem is since 10.4.2. I tried to restart FW ports, PRAM, NVRAM etc etc etc without success.

Maybe if I reformat and re-install Tiger? What do you think?

    Thanks.

  5. Reformating will only prove time consuming and ultimately not solve your problem. The firewire hub will.
