  1. Hi everyone,

I am trying to uninstall an offending software in Windows 2000 Safe Mode... I keep getting the Blue Screen trying to boot into Windows normally; but in Safe Mode, I kept getting "Windows Installer could not be accessed" message -- so I couldn't remove the software that caused the blue screen in the first place. Does anyone know how I can force an install (or at least disable) the software so I can boot into Win2K normally and remove the software?

(BTW, if it makes any difference, the software I'm trying to uninstall is Easy CD Creator 6 that came with my Plextor 712A -- but I tried to install it onto a different computer that has a Plextor 716A because the latter drive didn't come with any software -- I guess there are some incompatbility issues.)

Any help (short of reinstalling Windows) will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

go into safe mode.....then click on your start button.....click on run.....type in the box REGEDIT....click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE....click on SOFTWARE.....look for the folder named EASY CD CREATOR and delete it by right clicking on it and choose delete....then reboot your pc and cross your fingers that you'll be able to boot into windows 2000.

if that doesn't work then you'll probably have to reinstall windows 2000.....easy cd creator is crappy software to use and does cause software conflicts.....use some other software for dvd and cd burning.....

Have you tried using 'Last KNown Good Configuration"? If you never successfully were able to log into your desktop, the Last KNown Good Config should be set to just before you installed Easy CD Creator. Another option may be to do a Fast Repair from the Recovery Console. If it's just a DLL conflict, this may overwrite the offending DLL with a correct/stable one.
