Help! No audio on my Memorex 2042 :(

I bought this stupid thing about a year ago.

I put in a DVD it plays the video fine, but no audio. I've tried several discs, officially pressed and homemade, and no sound.

This used to happen randomly. I would just take the disc out and put it back in, that normally fixed it but now I have no audio at all and the memorex help site is a joke.

Anyone else run into this problem or know how to fix it??

With a standalone DVD player, about all you can do is try to clean it. But if it's just the audio, that's unlikely to help. I would junk it.
