Try better discs (see to the left)
Slower burn rate or
Or use smaller files, a burn is more likely to fail at the end of the disc.
The first option usually fixes that problem. -

so the answer to the question above is no
when i played the file in Power DVD the last two
chapters began to skip
when i watch the raw mpeg file, it runs fine
but after DVD-Lab compiles the mpeg and i watch it back it begins to skip like i described earlier
i thought the problem was just with my computer
so i went ahead and burnt it
but when i watched the DVD in my standalone DVD player the last to chapters on the chapter select menu do not work
and if i watch the video to where the last two chapter points are the video runs fine, but if i try to pause, fast forward or rewind the DVD the main DVD menu pops up
now i am not sure if the problem is
i dont know if the problem lies with the encoding process
or if it is a problem with DVD-Lab
i hope that i have explained it better this time
Please help
i am desperate -
If your DVD plays with no stuttering/skipping or freezing, but starts to stutter towards the end of the DVD, this is isually down to poor quality media or media not comptable with your standalone
Poor media (this does not always mean cheap media though) will tend to get worse as it gets closer to the edge
Try changing to a different brand and maybe looking into getting a media 'trial' package where you get a few different brands to find which one is suitable for you
Spending a few extra pounds/dollars/whatever is certainly worth it in the end if it means stutter free DVD's
Personally I use DataWrite Titaniums now, used to use Ritek, but now I'm happy with this media. This is what works for ME, it may not work for somebody else -
Maybe you exceeded the number of chapters you can use .. sounds like authoring issue.

It ain't necessarily so that the culprit is bad media. Sometimes that's the case with skipping/freezing playback, but an equally likely culprit is too much video data on the disc. Even on first-rate media like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim, if you go beyond roughly 3900 megs, some standalone DVD players can't handle playback correctly because they use cheap servos on the playhead head and at the outermost edge of the disc where the rotation speed really cranks up relative to the playback head, you get massive read errors.
The solution in that case is to ReJig the finished mpeg-2 file down below 3900 megs. I typically try to stay around 3800 megs max and my discs have no playback problems, ever. Also make sure you use good media (Tiayo Yuden, Verbatim, Ritek Ridata, Fuji) instead of crap media (princo, optodisc, house brands).
