  1. Hello all,

I've been authoring my DVD's with DVDlab 1.53 it all goes well and the burn fine. Its just that on my standalone DVD player when I play the movie from the start its ok, but when i select a chapter it plays but its very jerky. Anyone know how i can resolve this problem ?

What was your source viseo - something you converted yourself, or from another DVD ?

How did you create the source mpegs ?

If it come from another DVD, did you demux when you loaded the vobs ?

Did you frame index in DLP ?

What media did you use ?

If you play the dvd back from the HDD, does it do the same thing ?

I converted it myself in The Film Machine

How did you create the source mpegs ?
I created seperate VIDEO and AC3 files so i could multiplex them in DVDlab

Did you frame index in DLP ?
Yes i did mulitplex in DVDLab this was done automatically when authoring DVD (What is frame indexing?)

What media did you use ?
It was burnt on Datawrite Titanium 8x DVD-R @4x in CopytoDvd

If you play the dvd back from the HDD, does it do the same thing ?

Frame indexing is an option in DLP that lets you place chapter points more accurately than simple I-frames permit. It masically allows you to use frame offsets. It is worth doing.

I know DLP multiplexed for you. What I was looking for was demultiplexing if you had VOB sources. As you had ES source to begin with, you would not have a need to demux.

That all plays well from the HDD suggests the problem is probably media related, but whether or not this is a quality issue or a player compatability issue is harder to call.

A couple of things to try

    1. Burn to different media. Maybe try an RW so it's not a wasted disk if it fails

    2. Try you first disk on another couple of players to see if the problem is consistent

    3. Try burning to another -R at 4x to see if it helps.
