  1. I'm fairly new to this drive and thought that it burned color images/text onto the lightscribe media. Does it burn in color or simply greyscale? If not color, why do they let you choose color in the lightscribe menu (background, text), yet it prints black/white?

This was discussed before. Lightscribe burns the disc and whatever the background color is will be the color that shows. The original discs were black, but some disc suppliers are coming out with different background colors. Full color lightscribe discs don't exist, maybe in the future. But not likely using the present drives. You can do a forum search for 'lightscribe' and find some threads.

They are working on only two projects currently (due 1st qtr '06)
    1. They are increasing the write speed.
    2. They are working on colored backgrounds.
THAT'S IT for the foreseeable future.

  5. So what other methods are you guys using for printing on cd's/dvd's? I tried the Epson printer but didn't care for it.

I've always used a Sharpie, but I saw a Casio CW-50 thermal printer for $50US after a $20 rebate at Amazon. I know it's not as nice as a inkjet, but I've got a lot of silver top DVDs and it might be alright for what I want to do.

Can thermal printers print onto non-white CDs? I mean can it print onto a regular CD-R which has a metallic/reflective surface? (I assume you are referring to a thermal wax printer.) That would be awesome! I just recently got a printer capable of pritning onto CDs, but my wife would love for me to print onto all my old handwritten CDs and DVDs.
