  1. I've never had a problem with sync before, so this was surprising.
I imported the .vobs with the first option to
    Join and Demu to ES...
However after completing the project after adding menus and chapters, the audio trails a bit. I also tried to use
Use file set directly without Demu (Join Vob's first) and that makes the dvd almost unuseable, trying to advance chapters or FF brings you back to the beginning of the dvd.

I did notice after importing the .vobs that the resulting .mpv and .ac3 shows time lengths that a way off. Usually they are the same or pretty close.

Any ideas on how to proceed?

import the original vob into the assets bin without joining or demuxing. then check it for amount of audio delay with audio delay button. compensate for the amount of delay with the audio delay function, creating the new ac3 file. now delete that vob you used to check for audio delay. Use the new, delay-compensated ac3 file for the audio in your project.

  3. Thanks, but I checked the audio delay on each of the vobs and they are all different. There are 4 from this dvd. Should I just average them together? Also, after I see that how should I import the vobs to make the new ac3? Since there are 4 vobs, don't I have to either join them or demux+join?

  4. Ok, I just took an average number. Now the audio is in sync for the first quarter or so....then it starts getting out of sync more and more until the end.
Is there any way to stretch this to fit?

    Could be a PAL/NTSC issue...

let's go back to the source then. what were your source vobs, ntsc or pal? are the all the same format? it is sounding like a ntcs/pal problem where the source files were originally ntsc and converted to pal or vice versa.
