Is there a better, faster conversion program than TMPGEncoder?

I have Xvid.avi files which NeroVision doesn't seem to want to convert. I have been using TMPGEncoder, but to convert a file that is less than two hours seems to take 2 to 3 times longer than the length of the file to convert. I'm trying Blaze Media, but running into the same problem?

    Can someone make some recommendations?

  2. There are plenty of other programs. Check the tools section and try some others out. I've heard other people say good things about Mainconcept and Canopus. TMPGEnc does take a decent bit of time, but it does a good job. I've never made a DVD out of the files I made with it and been unhappy.

Of the dedicated encoders, I quite like TMPGEnc Plus. Other choices are CCE, Mainconcept, Procoder, QuEnc .... more in the Tools section.

Of the all-in-ones, DivxToDVD is the only one I give the time of day to.
    If in doubt, Google it.
