  1. 2 of my posts on other forums have been condensed below, so they look a little odd. The other forum hasn't really been able to help much, so here ya go

I've been using Nero for years to burn audio cd's. They upgraded their mp3 converter, and now EVERYTHING I burn skips (audio) It's only the converter, so for now, I'm using the converter I used to use to turn them into wav files first, then burn the wavs with nero, then delete the wavs. A PITA.

***Other Than Nero and Roxio*** Are there any other decent cd burning programs that will convert mp3 files on the fly before burning? Free or acquirable through nefarious means is a necessity.

technically, the CD's AREN'T skipping. The Nero mp3 to wav converter is corrupting the files.

I understand what you're saying, that's how I've been burning cd's for a long time. Nero converts the mp3s automatically when you drag them over and burn the cd. But with recent upgrades to both version 6 and 7, the converter is making the cd's sound as if they're skipping. It's a very common problem if you google it.

    I never had this problem

Try foobar which also offers a mp3 to AudioCD option - maybe the bigger deal for this task because itīs free :P

  3. There is only one fix and it has nothing to do with drive firmware, motherboard drivers, media type etc.

The problem is a single file, 'mp3PRO.dll' which you'll find in:

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\AudioPlugins\

The version that comes with Nero 7 is 2.0.5.0 and for whatever reason, its faulty. If you have Nero 6 still, on the CD goto the following directory:

    G:\Nero 6 Ultra Edition\Common Files\AudioPlugins\

(Where G:\ is your CD drive) and inside you'll find 'mp3PRO.dll' version 2.0.0.6. Copy this to:

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\AudioPlugins\

And overwrite (backup first just in case you need to revert back for whatever reason) the one already in there.

Guaranteed this will solve all your problems with audio CD's skipping. Its a temporary fix hopefully, till Nero can sort it properly.

Never had that problem either, but then again, I'm not using Nero... CDBurner XP Pro takes care of all my CD burning needs. For free.
