  1. I have read the Compatibility list a week back and it told me my dvd player (Philips 711) could playback dvd-r and dvd-rw. Now they are crossed. I've authored a dvd-r witch my Pioneer dvd burner. When I put it in the Philips it justs comes back out. Has anyone burned a dvd-r and got it to playback on the Philips? And how did you do it?
    Please help, I'm desparit.

I have the Philips DVD 711. I don't have the Pioneer DVD-RW/-R burner but I have succesfully played a DVD-R on my Philips 711. I borrowed the disc from a reseller who had borrowed the disc from a satisfied customer so I can't tell you how it was authored. The disc also played on my three year old Philips DVD 730!

I have not tested DVD -RW discs so I don't know whether DVD -RW works or not but DVD -R works on my player (European version) so it should work on your as well. The firmware of my DVD 711 i 7.12 (i.e. not the latest one which is 7.22). Your problem might (hopefully) be authoring related instead of player related. I know from experience (I have the Philips DVD100i DVD +RW burner) that Nero have problem with burning fully compatible DVD's (my player rejected DVD +RW discs burned by Nero) so if that's what you have used try another program. I use Veritas RecordNow and it works perfect with my DVD +RW discs.
