    Need some help. I have a VHS of some home shot stuff I'd like to transfer to DVD but I'd like to put in chapter marks to navigate through it. I can dub to a DVD on the VHS-to-DVD recorder I have [DVD-R] but I don't have a convienient method to add the chapter marks.

    Need some suggestions for software (prefer freeware/shareware) and a very basic step-by-step course of action to get me where I'd like to be.

    Authoring software is where you add chapters to the DVD before burning. DVD recorders do it automatically in 5-min increments. A few recorders let you do it manually.
