So I was trying to fix a DVD that had chapters in the wrong spots from a standalone. I used YadeX to convert to one VOB, then MPEG streamclip to get rid of teh time code breaks. Easy enough. Then I wanted to demux to m2v and ac3 so I could put it in DVD Studio pro and make a menu, etc. That worked too.

What happened though, was that it gave me an M2v file that HAD audio on it, as well as a separate ac3 file. Any idea what I did wrong? Is the separate ac3 file not necessary? Should I use Quicktime to get rid of the audio on the new m2v file and use the ac3 file that was generated by MPEG Streamclip?

Maybe I just had a wrong setting? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Try demuxing each stream separately ... rather than using the "Demux to M2V and AC3" option. Just a guess.

  3. Obviously you are seeing this feature which automatically opens a similarily named audio file in the M2V folder:

"For .m2v, .m1v, .mpv video files, if a valid audio file with the same name and the .aiff, .aif, .m1a, .mp2, mpa, .ac3 extension exists, it will be opened together with the video file."

Turns out Havema was right. If I moved the audio file with the same name or renamed it, it did not play the audio when I opened it in MPEG streamclip. I had no idea it did this and that's where my confusion came in.

  5. That feature allows the user to demux and mux video and AIF, M1A and AC3 audio. Just swap the audio file, rename it appropriately and mux with video. MPEG Streamclip has also a built-in encoder for M1A and PCM (it can only decode AC3).

BTW, MPEG Streamclip 1.5.1 is out.

    What about this situation?

I had 1 VOB they I demuxed into 2 separate M2v and AC3 sets so I could put it on 2 discs. I just edited in MPEG Streamclip where I wanted and went from there.

is there a way to do that with JUST an AC3 file and not lose quality? Like is I have a 2 hour AC3 file and want to split it into 2, 1-hour AC3 files?
