  1. Hello,

Sorry to be waisting anyones time, but I am new the DVD burning process. I enjoy bootleg concerts, and have a show in AVI format. Since I am new to burning DVD's, I decided to follow this guide.

    http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/avi_to_dvd_avi2dvd.cfm

It seems I am doing the right thing. I already had both DVD Decrypter and DVD2AVI, as I like ot rip my officialy released concert DVD's to aduio CD's.

The guide said all I needed was DVD Decrypter and AVI2DVD, so I downloaded the latest version of AVI2DVD, and went about following the directions given in the guide.

When I hit "Go", I get an error message telling me to choose an audio stream. When I try to do this, I get no audio stream options in the pulldown window. I also notice that my AVI file isn't giving the program any Film/File information in the little box in Step 1.

    My question is...

Is my AVI file messed up, or do I need another program that isn't being mentioned in the guide?

Note: I am only looking for freeware at the moment. Until I get better at this, I am not willing to buy any programs, as I am cheap.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can answer this question.

Since your video is in .AVI format, load it into VirtualDub and see if it plays okay. If it does, you can export your audio as a .WAV file. Your video then needs to be encoded to .M2V format for creating a DVD. There are some freeware encoders out there.

I am familiar with DVD2AVI, and it is used mostly for creating an index file for frameserving. I am not familiar to your AVI2DVD program.

Try the old freeware version of DivxToDVD.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  4. Thanks for the response.

I think I am gong to try the DivxtoDVD program. I am not sure if I got the free version though. The download site had a redirect, and when I opened the program, it told me that it was a trial version only, and gave me the option to buy it.

I'm crossing my fingers, and hoping I don't screw this up on the first try.

    Thanks again guys.

  5. Thanks.

The DivixToDVD worked, but it left a label on the screen that said trial version and gave their web page adress. That bummed me out, but still, it was a step in the right direction.

I'll try the one you linked me to next.

That's the trial of the payware version.

http://fastdownload.softonic.de/ourfiles_de/windows/vsoDivxToDVD_setup_0.52.99.exe is the freeware version and won't leave a watermark.
    If in doubt, Google it.
