I've searched quite a bit for noise filters (to remove noise from video), and I haven't found any for Vegas 5, or for Premiere 6.5 (with the exception that I found a link for a mainconcept plugin, except it's only in japanese. It seems the only one I have found is for TMPGEnc. Does anyone know how well this works, or if there are others. I know I won't get it all cleaned up, but every little bit helps...

    As far as software

Vegas 5 has a noise gate built into it - Under Audio FX.. I use Adobe Audition cause it works great, and practically does it for you (with the default settings) tooks seconds to figure out.

There are "video noise" filters for VirtualDub and AviSynth.

In fact one of the best is Convolution3D for AviSynth.

This might help ---> CLICK HERE

    Hope this helps.
