how to author incomplete VOB

I am a newbie and not sure if this is the right forum. I Decrpt DVD with DVDDecrypter and then burn using DVDShrink/Nero.

Some times, I cannot rip the few VOB files due to media errors or scratches. In this case I have all VOB but the last VOB is incomplete. It has end of the movie but not last 10 seconds. I am fine with that. I can play the VOB using media player and watch. Offcourse I can not watch last 10 seconds which are nothing but texts at the end.

When I try to encode using DVDshrink it gives me error. Is there any way to reduce (reencode) and burn the movie with incomplete VOB? Please let me know. The entire Video_TS folder is more than 5 GB it must be reduced by encoding.

This should work. As you are using DVD Shrink i suggest when you go to reauthor and drag main movie only over, just right click and do a 'start and stop' with 'stop' being before the 'bad' 10 seconds. Now back up.

Thanks for quick replay. But DVDShrink cannot even load the file to do reauthor. Infact the missing last 10 seconds do not exist in the VOB. Basically my VOB is incomplete.

Is it an original you are trying to copy from, or a backup?

Do the main movie only (throw out all the other ifo's bups and vobs) ... use ifoedit to create new ifo's (overwriting the old ones by selecting source directory as the destination) ... when this is done (don't forget to reload it into ifoedit and do get VTS sectors) it will load into dvdshrink

I can not even load the backup onto DVDShrink. Therefore main movie lony not even possible. The VOB is the end of the main movie. BTW its backup on HDD with 6 GB size and must shrink down to fit onto 4.7 GB DVDR.

open the folder on ur hdd where you saved the files ... identify the vobs for the main movie and discard everything else then use ifoedit to create new ifo's (open ifoedit and click create new ifos from the bottom toolbar ... load the first vob and make sure that destination same as source is checked the click ok) it will work ... i've done it myself lots of times where i have had a bad read at the end of a disk (usually caursed by kids dropping the disk and chipping the edges)

Thanks Captain. I will try this tonight and provide the feedback. Will this change the chapter location/selection? I never used the ifoedit before, but give a shot today.
