I am running a Panasonic NV EX1EN camcorder with iLink connection to my PC. Everything was fine (acquisition and exportation from/to the camcorder) until recent time when the back door of the camcorder was replaced (on/off switch was broken).
Now I can get capture from the camcorder, but after editing a new film, when I try to export it an information is transmitted to the camcorder with “No DV input” displayed in red letters!
I tried with another PC and another capture card with same results!
Anybody facing the same difficulty?

So the camera worked perfectly BEFORE it was repaired and now it does not?
-
Yes, and I am wondering if I have to go back to the repair station, or if I can make any operation to correct the issue
-
Look for a menu option on the camera that activates the DV Output....some cameras' DV outputs must be activated via the menu.
The trip to the repair shop may have changed the original default menu settings. -
Well, I went (again) through the full menu of my cmcorder, but nothing related to DV input!
Same in the camera manual! -
As you are in EU, DV IN on consumer cameras is normally disabled. Are you sure, DV In worked from the start without enabling it via SW update? Maybe the repair shop altered this settings to manufacture default (no DV IN).
BTW : is this a grey import? I just the read the manual (it indeed has a DV IN/OUT function - no menu setup needed ) so I deduce that's an not officially imported camera. -
Hi Dragonsf
You are right on the point that it is an imported camera, bought out of EU. But why EU people would not be able to operate the DV IN function??
I am not a great specialist: can you clarify what you mean by SW update? Is it an operation that I can make by myself, or shall I go back to the repairshop (located far away from my home).
Hope you understand my French-English!! -
Hi Latour ,
yes I understand you very well. The problem is the following:
The EU decided, if a DCR has a DV Input, it will be regarded as Video Recorder. Thus, they want to increas the customs (around 10 Euro).
As the market for DCR is very tight, the makers decided instead of paying the extra cutoms just disabling the DV IN. That's why DV IN enabled DCR are in a grey zone. But if you paid these extra customs (or the importer), you should go to the repair shop and tell them to enable the DV IN again.
On the other (if you have 44 BP at hand), you can buy software (SW) which enables the DV IN again.
Just Google for DV IN enable and your camera type.
It's quite easy: connect the PC and the camera with the supplied cable and start the program. -
Thank you very much Dragonsf for your clear information. This will help me solving my problem, either via the repairshop (very silent until now in spite of my emails) who should have returned the camera in the same condition as before, or obtaining the software via the web.
Now I am on the way to be happy exporting my latest DV films again.
Shall I dare saying:
" Arigatou gosaimas ta!!" or thank you very much indeed
(I learnt some Japanes words during business trips to Japan, much more difficult for me than the English!)
