  1. Hello.

I do not know how to make a single VIDEO_TS folder from many .avi files.
I tried with Toast 7 but i took like 14 hours and at the end said that has no enough space available but in fact there was at least 6 gig of space.

    Anyone with a clue?

    Thanks in advance,

    M

Toast 7 is an excellent way to do this. But there are limits on how much will fit on a video DVD. Toast has to convert whatever video format is in your AVIs to MPEG 2 in order to comply with the video DVD spec. That encoding takes time. At its default setting, Toast should fit about 2-1/2 hours of video to a single-layer DVD. You can see how much the disc is filling up by looking at the bar around the burn button (make sure you've correctly chosen DVD or DVD DL next to that bar).

You can use the custom encoding settings to lower the bit rate setting so that more content can fit the DVD at lower picture quality.

The error about not enough space requires you to notice if it says "disc" or "disk". If it says "disc" then there isn't enough room on the DVD. If it says "disk" then there isn't enough room on the hard drive. I believe you need about twice as much available space on the hard drive as you plan to burn to the DVD or three times as much if you choose Save as Disc Image.

  3. Thanks for all the tips, but I would prefer to try another app. instead of Toast (if there is any). I waste the whole weekend trying to do it with toast. Maybe other app. could do it faster, if not Toast would be my only hope.

    Thanks,

    M.

NO SOFTWARE in the world will get you around
these limitations to enable faster muxing.

    Up converting to MPEG-2
    is related to three things:

    Processor Speed of your Mac
    How Much Ram you have
and Amount of Free Space on your HD

If you want to do it in Toast, then you have to get the
AVIs into a compliant spec that will make encoding
much faster, either by editing them down yourself
and saving to DV Stream via Quicktime Pro, or
going ahead and editing them and then Authoring
    them to a valid VIDEO_TS
    you can burn in Toast.

But to let drag and Drop them into
Toast, and expect it to do everything fast.....! Boy!

I burn .avi/xvid etc and all other similar formats.

    I use VSO DIVXTODVD
that would be good if we were on PCs, but this is the MAC FORUM....
