So I got a new car stereo that can play MP3 disks. It works great but here is the problem. If you use Nero to burn a disk of MP3s, lets say U2 for example, I can fit all of their albums on one disk. The problem is it will burn the albums in alphabetical order and the tracks in each folder also in alphabetical order. This also happens if you just use the drag and drop burn mode built into XP. So then the tracks for each album are not in the correct order that they were on the CD.
I use WinAMP but so far have not figured out how to make it author MP3 disks. It will put the tracks in the correct order but only lets you burn a normal playable CD and not an MP3 disk. If anyone knows how to make WinAMP burn MP3 disks please let me know.
So what I have been having to do is number all the tracks 01, 02, 03 etc before the name of the song. This does work and will make Nero burn everything in the correct order but the problem with this is now the track name that is displayed on the screen shows up as “03-New Year's Day”. It’s annoying to have to have the number as part of the track name. Not to mention takes a long time to go through all the albums and number all the tracks!
Anyone know a way to burn MP3 disks without all this headache?
Thanks

okay, yes, you do in fact have to name them that way...personally i actually set it up like put all the tracks for each cd into a single folder and call it like 01 - (Name of CD) i use dbpoweramp for all my conversions and with it, it will pull up ID3 tags (which if your car deck plays mp3, i can almost guaruntee it will detect those as well, though you may have to play with your display settings on the car stereo deck to make them appear properly...rest assured though, if it reads a track name, it will 99.9998% of the time also be able to read an ID3 tag somehow or another (thats the stuff that pulls up that says like the artist, track name, ect) only thing about that particular program, is it is unfortunately not a free program....if i remember correctly, i think it costs 20 dollars to register it...or maybe if you search around, you can find a version before it switched to a program ya gotta pay for.......but yea, give it a run, its honestly a great audio utility all around, not only for making mp3 discs, but for just about any other audio conversion you could possibly want....
EDIT: also, burn with nero.....and probably best to burn at a slow speed, mp3 discs have this VERY bad tendancy to skip with the lightest scratches if they arent burned at a slow speed...whatever the speed of your burner is, cut it in half i'd say to be on the safe side....

Yes the manual says it does support ID3 tags. So let me see if I understand this correctly. With ID 3 tags it will tell the player the right order and display names all from that info? So the display names would not show the 01, 02, 03 as part of the name?
If that is right then thanks, I will check out that program!
Edit P.S.
It sounds like this will only work if I have the origianl disk still. I have a ton of MP3s that I ripped and then sold the disks on Ebay etc. And I think most of the MP3s I have save do not have the ID3 tag info in them still. I guess that wouldnt work for those files. Is there anyway to tell if the MP3s I have saved do have ID3 tag info in them?
Thanks!
