I seem to remember an early Next Generation where someone commented on it to some and the reaction was not to nice. Could be wrong though.

Yeah, i don't remember which one as he seemed to be a permanent character on most of the diff. series, but i remember someone (Worf or another klingon) in one of them made a statement that it had something to do with them doing genetic enhancing to explain the change from the original series to the later ones.

If you like DS9, the DS9 books actually continue the story nicely with the "Unity" book and a couple of dual-world books (Dominion & Feringinar, Andor & Cardassia, etc). It picks up where the series ends.

All the genetics stuff was explained in Enterprise. Prior to that series, it was one of the many unexplained discontinuities. Part of the weakness of Enterprise was that it was used so heavily to fix mistakes of the past.

Well, i know i did not see it in "Enterprise" because i never watched that show :P
you are talking about the one with scott bakula or what the hell ever his name is
It looked so stupid before it aried and i think i saw maybe 5 minutes of it once, but i've never watched it.

I keep feeling like it was on one of the DS9 episode's somewhere, it was a breif comment, like a whole 30 second discussion.

I have Voyager, i'm gonna have to start picking up DS9, i alway's liked that show and have not seen it in forever!!

Oh yeah, I guess if you count speculation. I think Dr. Bashir on DS9 was guessing at what it could have been but went ignored. That amounted to little more than a sentence or two at most.

That was in the Tribbles back-in-time episode. I think that was in mid season 5 somewhere.

Yep it was TRIALS AND TRIBBILATIONS where they did the time travel stuff. Worf did say "we do not discuss it with others".

What bashir asked was if it was some kind of genetic mutation but no answer was given. And believe it or not I did not see the enterprise show that gave the answer. I basically only watched four or five shows plus the finale in the last season of Enterprise. I gave up on it in the middle of the third season. Actually I knew it looked bad in the first but I was trying to give it time to get it together. It never did.

    Yoda,

The final season of Enterprise was actually quite good. I think they just let the writers go wild, and I'm glad they did. Check it out if you have a chance.

They did do quite a bit of "convenient" overlap however, like Soong being in a number of stories, him being the granddaddy to Data's creator.

Some things involving Orions and the other "major", yet never seen, aliens was really needed, if for no other reason than to explain why we never see these peoples in any series.

It's a shame UPN was left in charge of the ST:Enterprise series, rather than SciFi channel. Shows like Stargate were on their death bed when SciFi breathed new life into them and continued them, not to mention repaired them, after Showtime and Fox lost interest.
Although scifi IMO has put out some crap like Scare Tactics and Tripping The Rift, they have done an absolutely superb job with the Stargates and BSG. I do wish they didn't cancel Farscape, which was another great show. Overall though I think they have done a good job and probably could have saved Enterprise.
