According to the trade magazine: Television Week, SG-1, Atlantis, and BSG have all* been renewed for another season. SG-1 and Atlantis both have orders for 20 episodes each. The article doesn't state how many episodes of BSG may be ordered. SG-1 will now become the longest running science fiction program in televison history (ten years), outlasting Twilight Zone, X-Files, and every incarnation of Star Trek. The TV ratings for BSG dropped a bit, but Sci-Fi still had the best Friday night ratings of any basic cable channel.
(*BSG renewal pending negotiations.)

SG-1 has been on for 10 years?
In all that time I've never seen a single full episode. But this season they have Ben Browder and Claudia Black from Farscape joining the cast and I plan to become a fan once it airs.
I'm so glad those two are back on screen together again. Any sci-fi show will do the job, really.

I haven't seen a whole lot of Atlantis, but what I've seen has been good.
SG1 is great and just keeps getting better. season 9 is pretty much a new beginning. whole new story lines, new characters, plus a bunch of the old characters that made the show great (Michael Shanks)
Claudia Black is great. she did 6 shows in season 9, but if the producers have any sense, they'll bring her back for season 10. -
I like SG-1, but I love BSG. IMO, BSG is one of the best programs on television. During it's hiatus I've been watching Threshold & Invasion. Invasion is a bit better, but neither compare to BSG.

BSG and Lost are the two best programs on TV if you ask me. More of both is more gooder.

Wow good to hear. Though I've only seen a few on syndication (no cable).
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
Sorry, I missed the meeting. You're literally gonna have to spell it out for me.
BSG?
edit Figured it out

Epicurus8a,
Sorry to correct you old bean, but Dr Who has the title to the longest running sci-fi ever.
SG1, pretty good though mate! -

Not really versions as such, like Star trek, but more it evolved over 25 years. The new series is basically more of the same, but much better scripting and production values
Tom Baker did have a marathon stint of I think 7 years though -

Everything from season 9 and on is new show for all intents and purposes. I just hope that it is allowed to have a long enough run to tell a good story and get a decent ending. Not end with a cancellation or cast walk-off like so many other shows have happen. Or worse, a Sliders-like butcher.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

BSG back! Great news. The others I don't much care for but the more SF we get, the better. Hopefully one day SF will dominate production resources which is as it should be! Amen.

Well, I do like SG, but I freakin' wish that they would start new Babylon 5 series. I got so deep into that series it was awsome.

They did do quite a bit of "convenient" overlap however, like Soong being in a number of stories, him being the granddaddy to Data's creator.
Some things involving Orions and the other "major", yet never seen, aliens was really needed, if for no other reason than to explain why we never see these peoples in any series.
It's a shame UPN was left in charge of the ST:Enterprise series, rather than SciFi channel. Shows like Stargate were on their death bed when SciFi breathed new life into them and continued them, not to mention repaired them, after Showtime and Fox lost interest.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)
