  1. Hello all,
I have an issue which I tried to resolve in the "Newbie Conversion" forum, but all solutions I have tried did not do the job.
I am trying to convert an *.avi movie to DVD readable format. Now, most movies do the conversion just fine, however, there are
some exceptions. I am not sure though what is the "common factor" of those movies that they either fail to convert OR crash
the program. I *think* it has something to do with the sound track.
For example, a live show I tried to convert has Dolby Pro Logic AC3 2 Channel sound track. The conversion finished all stages
but the whole movie was as if you stretched it upon a few more minutes, making the audio slow and low (in the tones) and the video
was also showing a bit slower than it is on the PC.

What can cause this? Am I missing an encoder? Decoder perhaps? I have the standard AC3 filter. Maybe it has something to do with VBR
    or CBR sound tracks?

    Any ideas fellas??
    Thanks!

AC3 is AC3, assuming it is compliant. If it is then there is nothing you need to do to it other than use it in your authoring. If it isn't compliant then it may have unforeseen effects.

A little more information regarding your process and the tools you use might help identify problem areas though.

  3. Hi.

These are trhe tools I use in order to convert:
The primary tool is Avi2DVD which is used for the conversion process.
I have TmpGenc installed as well. Avi2Dvd uses it I guess.
I also have VirtualDub-mod which I use to add permanent subtitles to movies.

This is about it I think.

    Thanks again.
