    Hi im tryin to add permanent subtitles to my avi files with directvob and tmpgenc but the files it creates are bigger and with less quality is there any chance to make them the same size and with the same quality and the subtitles??

    Not possible. The only way to keep the same quality would be to use a lossless codec. Then the size is going to get much bigger. Best to leave the subs seperate.

    Yes, by using the same bitrate as the original for both a and v.

    No. Reencoding (which must be done to add permanent subs) always reduces quality.
