  1. I have benn trying to convert some home videos and other movies to vcd but the quality is terrible,very blocky(technical term) .I have benn using tmpnc to convert but when I burn it the results are terrible.I have a Sony stand alone player 4000 .Sorry if this is a repeat of others but I am stumped. Thanks.

    what equipment setup/setting are you using? check out some of the techiques these guys are using in here. practive makes perect...

  3. are you capturing in VCD mode?, try capturing in a high quality mode and then converting using Tmpenc using a good template (TIbrO's aren't bad). this might work.

  5. Capture using a lossless codec (huffy or MJEG), experiment with filters in VirtualDUB and/or TMPGenc, up the bitrate (see what your player will accept) and you will see a DRAMATIC increases in VCD quality.

    p.s. make sure that motion in TMPGenc is set to 'high' at least.
