Continuing to trouble shoot an audio/video sync issue with a Hauppauge 350 PVR and WinTV 2000 I came across a pattern I thought may shed light on my problem. Watching HBO on Live TV I notice a sync problem with audio lagging behind video. When I start to record the sync problem is eliminated and the sync becomes perfect. Why would I only have the problem with LiveTV and not during record?? Also, the sync is perfect when viewing Live TV on local channels, problem only appears on Live TV viewing on HBO (which is my only movie channel).

Well, just guessing here, but HBO audio may be a slightly different format and require some processing that causes a lag. It may have been converted to a more compressed digital format when HBO processed it before they sent it out. When recording it, it doesn't need to be processed, just recorded. Live TV audio is analog so it has no processing needed.
I'm probably wrong, just speculating. Maybe someone here as a better explanation? -
Thanks. What is most interesting to me is that during the recording of a movie the audio and video sync is perfect. It is only during LIveTV and is isolated, so far, to stations like HBO. It is possible that eventually I will see a problem with sync while recording, but so far I see no problem. My main question is: Why does the sync problem go away during recording of a program??
