All I'll say is that it's a poor craftsman who blames his tools for his problems, and I'm sure that the many people who put out professional products day after day with DVDA will say the same thing. Good luck with Ulead, though, if it's doing what you want.

as far as usability and getting the job done quick, yeah. Time is money and I don't know about you but I don't have time to waste and waste learning one piece of software when the other one does it just as well, or almost just as well and without any problem.

You didn't really read my post, did you? It's all there.

Been using DVDA3 for only 3 months now, but have just put out a successful DVD-9/CSS/99Title/Playlist-filled educational DVD for McGraw-Hill. DVDA3 incapable or user-unfriendly? It think not.

Having worked with Maestro, ImpressionDVDPro, Scenarist, DVDSP, DVDit, and DVDLabPro in the past, this new program was no surprise.
Got this app mainly 'cuz it's still being supported (unlike my long-in-the-tooth standby Maestro) and includes Playlist, CSS, DLT, Dual-layer burning capability and DV preview. For a client of McGH's calibler, I needed something that I could have current, instant tech support available. That was the only program that suited all my needs at the time and didn't cost an arm and a leg (Scenarist) or a switch to Mac (DVDSP).

I basically skipped all the "template" crap and created my own menus (both backgrounds and subpictures) in Photoshop as I always have done, and just imported them in. Had to spend a little time understanding the multiple hilite options (as it's geared toward the template idea), but that's it.

Mmm ok, yeah someone agreed with me that also came from the Ulead environment in that all the other programs besides Ulead have a totally different way of authoring. He told me there's a decent learning curve and that it's worth it to learn DVDA3. I am wondering if a book will come out soon for it....
