  1. I recorded a live event onto a couple of Ritek DVD+RW discs with my Liteon 5005 recorder...the recording was over 2 hrs long, so the first of two discs is pretty full. When I tried reading the first disc in the DVD+RW drive of my PC and in another DVD player, it wasn't recognized. So I stuck the disc back in the Liteon 5005 (a different unit...not the same one where it was recorded), and the DVD recorder started "Preparing" the disc again. Uh oh. I stopped it and took it out as soon as I could, but by then it had already created a new menu and got rid of the old one.

I'm assuming the actual recording is still sitting on the disc, as I can see that the disc is almost fully burned (but not quite)...but of course I get nothing when I try to access it through the menu or the files on the disc. I tried using IsoBuster and CDRoller, but they show only the new menu and do not have any indication of the recording I want.

Is there any way I can recover the data on this disc?

  2. Chances are the preping erased the TOC but left the content.
Try a program like PCinspector for file recovery.

It sounds like data was never written to it. Can't lose what you never had. The problem would be a bad disc.

But go ahead and try ISOBUSTER (paid UDF version) and see if you can recover the files. I've used it before for things like this, saved my day.
