has anyone ever encountered this error? I shut down my PC last night and when I turned it on early today, it was just a black screen that says something like:
invalid system disk
please press any key to continue
I brought it to the store where i bought it (my pc is 10 months old) and it was ok. it booted up. i took it home cos i was advised to back up my files first and then bring it back on Sunday so they could send it back to the manufacturer. So, i plugged it in and i get the same error i received earlier. I carried the pC to the other room and plugged it on my dad's monitor and it worked fine. what could possible be wrong?
and now it just died. blank. the light indicators are on but there's nothing. no power whatsoever. im bringing it back to the shop, but i'd like to know beforehand what could possible be going on. it's frustrating for me because i never seem to be lucky with PCs. The fan has just been replaced like 3-4 weeks ago, too.
Anothr question would be, will my files on both hard drives be wiped clean? I was going to backup and then this happened.
any information would be appreciated. thanks!!!

It sounds like your boot sector is corrupt or the read head of your hard drive is slipping out of alignment. It's odd that it works sometimes and then doesn't at other times which leads me to believe it's hardware related.
My suggestion is to connect the hard drive as a slave to another system and backup the important files on your hard drive before you ship it out to be repaired. You may find the repair shop wipes your system clean which means all files are gone.
