  1. My current MS Mouse is now double clicking when it should be single clicking, which I find very annoying. Therefore I need to buy a new mouse but am wondering which type to go for ?

Should I stick with a traditional Wired 3 button mouse or should I go wireless ? I'll be using this mouse for Quake 4 next week.

For some mice there is a setting to double click with a single click (in the mouse settings somewhere I think). If this is the only problem it may be worth double checking that you haven't accidentally turned this on.

If that’s not the problem (or you want a change anyway) I'm not a gamer so can't comment on that aspect of a mouse’s function, but have always liked the ergonomics of Logitech mice and personally prefer wireless.

For game tracking, wireless mice have pretty much caught up or exceeded the tracking of traditional wired mice. Buy a mouse that feel comfortable for you. Quite a few wireless mice come with weights you can put inside the mouse to give you more traction. For the most part, these won't help the mouse work better but they do allow you to feel the mouse so to speak.
