Converting it can be a lengthy and difficult process. Easiest solution would be to watch it on your computer, as it can play any format, or buy a cheap DVD player that does PAL/NTSC conversion, like the Phillips 642.

Not really, not if you know the few correct steps 8)
As i have done many with perfect results and little effort

Or as Forum Troll said, watch it on your pc or buy a dvd player that will do the conversion for you with good results, a cheap one that works extremely well is the Cyberhome DVD player.....

NeroVision Express 3 will do it easily. No menus or subs but the results are quite acceptable. Just use the 'Import Disc' option and follow the prompts.

In Ultra DVD Creator from aone you can select whic format to burn in (select between NTSC and PAL) and which ratio to use (i.e. 4:3 or 16:9). However, I have never got to evaluate this function since the only NTSC format video I have (I need to do a NTSC to PAL conversion) fails in process caused by som e strange "cant render audio ch0" message (note: this message comes regardless of me enabling the format conversion or not). The software is simple enough but I have the impression that this software has a lot of bugs and it is not the worlds best DVD burner engine, some times it messe up a ripped DVDs menue (how can this be done) and if you give the DVD a label with the same name as your source folder, it deletes the source folder contents. Shit happens.

  8. By the time you have converted it to NTSC on the PC, you will have watched the entire thing on the PC numerous times.

    Huh ??
You will have watched it numerous times ??

1: Demux the video and audio right from the dvd with DVD Decrypter,
2: Run the video through TMPGEnc making it NTSC spec's but leaving it 25fps
3: Run the video through DGPulldown to reflag the video at 29.97fps
4: load the video and audio into your authoring program & author

(note) you can also set DVD Decrypter to rip the entire movie into one large VOB, then demux the audio and video with TMPGEnc, which is the way i used to do it but now just demux or rip each part of the dvd with DVD Decrypter in IFO mode, Stream Processing, to get the indavidual audio and video.

All done in a night of sleeping!!! the longest part is the re-encoding of the video and i just set that up before going to bed and it's done in the morning,

With NO need to muck with the audio at all....
You don't need DVD2AVI or AviSynth as stated in these threads as you can do the same/certain thing's with DVD Decrypter (DVD2AVI) or TMPGEnc (AviSynth) if you understand all the settings in TMPGEnc and what they do, de-interlacing, setting bitrates, quality, ect. 8)

THE HOLY GRAIL? ... A new method of PAL to NTSC conversion!

PAL to NTSC the easy way?
I have actually refined and have all the screen shots and started a guide since that last thread but just getting the time to finish writing it all down

sure ya cant, even though pal is far sharper and not jerky, unlike the conversion you would have done.

    Not could have watched it
8 hours sleep, well, that's better than sitting there watching the video convert for 4 hours

X-Box & WTF wants to watch it on a pc when they have a 27", 54" tv And i have cheap & expensive multiformat dvd players, but so what ? all my friends don't.... not everyone has surround sound on their pc's, ect. and some just want to be able to do it.
Note: (if you noticed, i also backed up Forum Troll about watching it on your pc or a cheapo dvd player :P )

Spoken like someone who has not tried or who has not done it right or knew how. I know TMPGEnc can be quite overwhelming for those that dont understand all the options in it when the Unlock template is used instead of the wizard

And i have seen no jerkyness what so ever in all of the converions i have done, so i don't know what that has to do with anything, except it being a byproduct of using a one click convert all program or doing it wrong, like trying to convert the video and audio together through one of the do all in one step methods, then i have seen jerkyness, audio sync problems, trying to actually convert the video alone to a higher frame rate ect.
And as for FAR sharper, we aint talking about comparing VHS to HD
