I have a G4 tower with a pioneer DVR-104 and I keep getting this message when burning:

    Sense Key= medium ERROR

    Sense Code= 0x73, 0x03

can anyone tell me what this means? I was trying to burn an audio disc with files that were on my hard drive if that helps.

New update I tried burning in iTunes and I got an error message saying that my burn speed was set too fast for my media and to turn down the burn speed. So I put it from 8x to maximum burn speed but I got the same message.

A medium error most often is a media incompatibility with the burning drive. Have you checked for firmware updates for that drive? Firmware updates usually enable the drive to support more manufacturers of media. If you go to the F.A.Q. at xlr8yourmac.com and click the DVD link you should find a page dealing with Pioneer firmware updates.

You also should try a different brand of blank media. Avoid Memorex or any off-brands.

Most notably, when I had my DVR-104, i often got this
error until I applied the Apple Fix for SuperDrives
which helped with some media, but eventually
the problem resurfaced and was one of the
factors in my upgrading my DVR-104 to a DVR-109.
    YMMV.

the discs are sony cd-r's and I use them all the time thats why I don't think its the media. Its not a new batch of cd's either. I think I already have this firmware update but I'll download it anyway. If anyone has any other info let me know. Thanks for the advise.
