Chaseplay and other problems with TDK Discs

This may seem a stupid one, but I need to find out.

I use a Pioneer DVR-220 recorder and have just bought some TDK DVD-RW discs (4x) which will not allow me to use chaseplay with them. I do not get this problem with other (cheaper) discs.

Additionally, after erasing recorded programmes on these discs, instead of showing the total unused disc time remaining, it still shows the reamaining time before erasing. ie to the complete disc time.

Also, When a recording has been titled, the title still shows once the recording has been erased. Again this only reverts correctly once all recordings have been erased.

Can anyone tell me what is going on please?

Are you sure your Pioneer is set to initialize in VR mode. What you describe sounds as though the discs were initialized in video mode.

Thanks Frobozz, initializing in VR mode seems to have done the trick - I said it was a stupid question, and now I know!
