I've read the archives and previous messages on removing the vocals from audio. Most of the posts concluded there is no standard freeware that can do the trick.

I was just wondering if there are any new uptades on it. So far I've tried using winamp and other vocal remover plugins, but in vain ......

Removing vocals from a wave file is questionable at best. Removing vocals from a lossy format such as MP3 is impossible. You're going to end up with so much compression distortion it isn't worth it.

If you really want to try removing vocals, try using Adobe Audition's center channel extractor. It will give you better results then the method used by most programs which is to invert one channel then mix the channels together thus causing anything in the center channel mix to be canceled out.
