i am wondering if there is a way to calculate a qfactor for cce. i am doing taking ogm episodes and putting them to dvd and want to fit the max possible without dropping quality, but there has to be a better way than hit or miss. so is there a way to estimate what qfactor i should use by the bitrate of the original divx/xvid that is contained in the ogm?
thanks

I'm not familiar with CCE or ogm files and normally I'd pass this post up, but are you talking about a simple biterate calculator for a multipass vbr encode? If so, try this: https://www.videohelp.com/calc.htm

I too know little to nothing about CCE, but I'm guessing qfactor stands for quality factor (or possibly quantisation factor), and if I'm not mistaken, for those of us familar with TMPGEnc, we would know it as the Quality % when using CQ mode, or certainly something similar to that, anyway.
I think ....

LOTS of info there
ahhhh googleIf in doubt, Google it. -
Ultimately, if you are only putting one movie to a disk, use a bitrate calculator to work out the correct rate, and give the movie all the space you can. My experience leads me to use multi-pass VBR for this type of work, and never quality or CQ modes, which seem to produce very arbitrary results. At least with a calculated 2 (or occassionally 3) pass VBR encode I know exactly what the outcome will be.
