  2. A resounding NO! It can only hurt the integrity of this superb forum. We've seen enough spammers trying to sell crapola here. If I want junk I'll shop at ebay.
It doesn't matter who you vote for. The government always gets in.

  3. No, it then becomes difficult to determine who is spamming and who is legit. Not worth the trouble or time to police. Also it could potentially open up Baldrick to liability.

All of the above, and can you include a "NO! Absolutely Not!" option in the poll.

While I am a member of a couple communities that have a Buy/Sell trade forum and they all work absolutely fine, I just don't think this one would. I really don't have anything but a gut feeling, honestly.

It just opens up too many cans of worms for the admin / mods IMHO.
    If in doubt, Google it.

    Strange.

The only people who have commented have been the "No!" voters.

How's about some of the "YES!" voters give some reasons why they would like a forum of this nature ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

Ebay and the more localized "Craig's List" (USA) work fine. Google will soon be getting into this space from what I hear.

Craig's List is good for heavy stuff and things that need personal inspection before bidding.

The reason why it is nice on forums to have buy/sell is because the objects for sale are typically related the specialty of the community. So I would expect to find movies, hardware, computers and other related items for sale here. And you can also kind of have a nice place to come and sort of "know" your seller.

If it were only honest individuals selling off stuff, it'd be great. But scammers and spammers would ruin it in mere minutes.

    Use eBay.

    No, absolutely not.

NO! I'm with everybody else. One bad transaction would bleed over into other areas and compromise the integrity of the entire site. I can't speak for other countries but everyone here in the US is lawsuit happy and Baldrick would get sued, I'd bet money on it.

Also... look at all of the bootleg DVDs on E-bay. All it would take would be for one unstatisfied customer to cry "bootleg" and this site would be gone for good. (although e-bay remains, though I've no idea how).

Don't risk it. We'll miss you if you do.

Eh I personally wouldn't have a problem with it, but it would need alot of moderation to keep it from being SPAMMED up.

I wouldn't mind the extra moderation either. I just want to be clear exactly what will be happening if its done.

Also you'd want to have another sub forum of sorts where people can comment of bad or good experiences with specific users.

Its gets complicated fast. I can clearly see the advantage over something as impersonal as eBay but I can also see a clear disadvantage.

So I guess my answer is Yes, if you decide its worth it.

I would like to see one as I am an honest seller of items and sometimes those Ebay fees suck (paypal, final value, insertion, etc). In fact about a week or so ago I inquired in a post if I could link to an item I am selling on Craigs List. Unfortunately yes it is so complicated with spammers and the like, but Craigs List seems to be doing just fine (although I have run into my fair share of bogus buyers over there). I think it could work well if there were some sort of screening process the mod's could implement (credit cards, deed to the house, first newborn); I'm sure one of the local geniuses who posts here could think of something (how about a contest?). Honestly it's probably not worth the time and trouble but I would like to see it.

I voted YES as long as it is just A/V type gear and not just anything and everything.

  23. Even with all the moderation in the world you'll still get Scammers.

    I wouldn't risk it,no way!

    Leave it to Ebay.

    This site is PERFECT already.

I was thinking along those lines also.... although i still voted no when there were only acouple of votes.... and only 4 post's...
Just seem's like it has the potential to go bad......
And you know there would be spammers like crazy, but with everyone reporting them they would be deleated rather fast, but then again....

If it's not broke, Don't fix it

I am so balancing on the fence edge
Yet seem to keep sliding over to the NO camp.....

  25. As someone mentioned above, there are many community forums that have a "bazaar" section which work just fine. A simple rule like you have to be a member for at least 4 weeks and have made a minimum of 50 posts before you can be a seller should prevent most spammers.

However, it will be up to Baldrick.

    Regards.

I voted yes, but after reading all these posts about doom and gloom, I'm not sure anymore. I figured it would be a good way to unload some equipment or upgrade.

I can see where it could cause a lot problems and would be a handfull.

Right. Id vote yes if only a percentage of the sales went to the site to keep it up and running .Id say anywhere between 15 and 25 % of the sale would be good for me. You also could have the members who have been here for 2 years or longer to be the ones able to sell or trade their goods. The new members would have to wait until a grace period expired. I also agree with the post above. You could have some serious problems.
