I just removed my rear bumper (after gettting hit yet again). The bumper I removed is made in Taiwan. The auto body shop that fixed it last supposedly used genuine Ford parts. Anyone here work at an auto body shop and can tell me if the rear bumper for a 1995 Ford Escort LX 2 Door hatchback is supposed ot be from Taiwan? I don't think so.

That's what kills me about people saying you should buy an "American" car. It's just not reality anymore.

What's wrong with parts from Taiwan? Try to find something in the store that's actually made in USA. Where do you think the computer you are using was made from? The parts in your car, I suspect most of them are made from overseas any way.

I have no problem with made in Taiwan computer parts. In fact, they seem to specialize in it and do a very nice job of it. I do not have a problem with auto parts from Japanese, German, or even from Mexico if it's made in a Ford plant there. But Taiwan? I'm suprized it even fits. They simply don't make good auto parts (or tools) in Taiwan. Never have and probably never will IMO. Taiwan is famous for cheap aftermarket auto parts that don't fit or work right.

I have a 94 VW GOLF 3 and a 97 VW Jetta, the part are mostly made in Germany but all assembled in Mexico. Only a few are assembled in Germany and shipped to US.
There is usually a sticker on your car when you buy it that says something like "75% parts made in Germany, assembled in Mexico"
Cars are not all made in one country that is for sure. People wheel and deal to get the best or cheapest part available.

I was finally able to prove that it is in fact a "cheap" aftermarket bumper. It cost $395 as opposed to $455 for a genuine Ford bumper. I'll be putting on a Ford one when I can find one the right color in a junk yard.

Actually the worst parts in any Ford I've ever owned were made by Mazda. Trust me, there is a good reason why nobody buy's Mazda's anymore and Ford already redesigned the Escorts and Probe (now called a Cougar) to undo the stuff Mazda did. I'd probably still have my 1984 Escort GT if it wasn't for the crasppy Mazda transmission.

Mazda/Ford uhmm, no difference. Theres only 5 car manufactures left in the world, so by bagging Mazda you bag Ford. Think about it.
Welcome my son, welcome to the machine. -

Not really. Ford stuff is considerably better than Mazda. I still don't understand why some people think that all Jap cars are better when it is only Honda and Toyota who make good cars and the rest of the Jap auto makers suck. -
Ford Is Mazda. Sorry but its true...... Now about the "jap" cars? What the hell are you talking about? I'm sorry to burst your bubble but I don't think you could actually consider one car a american or a japanses, or a korean, it just doesn't work that way anymore. An example many hondas are made right here in the USA while many Fords are made in Mexico.
BTW Don't forget that the probe used to be built on a mazada platform. About the 94 escort GT why didn't you just fix or replace the trans its not that bad....oops wrong forum...... -
It was an 1984 Escort with the terrible Mazda transmission. I'm hoping that my 1995 Escort has a more reliable Mazda transmission.
