Go to http://forum.rpc1.org and choose the DVD-RW drive forum. Alternatively, you can go to http:/club.cdfreaks.com (CD Freaks Forum). The instructions are there, I just don't have a link. With the 109, I think what you do is convert it to a retail A09 to unlock the rip speed. Afterwards, I think there are step by step instructions on how to crossflash the drive to the Buffalo firmware, so you can keep the riplock removed and have +R bitsetting for single layer media.

I just used their firmware on the 10 Pioneer 110D we have in our duplicators, it works great. I used the Buffalo firmware for my 109 without issue, but I never converted it to the retail model. Rip speed isn't all that important to me.

  3. You can get the firmware and flashing tools for the 109 here:

    http://www.dvd-recordable.org/wwwimgs/media/flash/html/Firmware/

You have to choose between riplock removal OR bitsetting. You cannot get both as the Buffalo firmware does not remove riplock and the A09XL firmware does not incorporate bitsetting.
Still a few bugs in the system...
