    I am recording VHS material to DVDR+. When I finalize the disks, it makes the whole thing one long chapter. Is there a setting for the auto chapters?

    It cannot be turned on or off. Are you sure the chapters are not there? Hit the double arrow keys on the remote underneath the word "skip" durning playback. It should cause chapter jumps forward and back in about five minute increments. The auo chapters do not show in the Direct Navigator. The Direct Navigator will show one title.

    They're there, you're right.
    you can't see them in the menu, but it sure is easier skipping through them.
