I have some video that is on DV tape.
It's been recorded in long play.
I'm having trouble transferring the video onto my PC.

My application, Ulead Video Studio, starts off by complaining about the correct driver not being there.
But, then when I record, it does start recording.
BUT... then every few seconds the video footage and sound mangles up.

I can't figure out what the problem could be.

I can't see how I could be missing a driver.

Normal video is captured fine... no problems.
It seems as though the long play is causing the problems.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

Does it work fo a SP tape or live capture?
    I'm assuming IEEE-1394 transfer here.

but they had the same problems.

have no idea why we're getting this problem.

    just tried windv and dvio.
    same problems.
for some reason i can't play in video studio.
but when played and viewed in windv, the video plays fine, looks ok.
it's only when i start to record, the video starts to mangle up.

there must be some good reason for the problem to occur?

LP mode has many negative issues when played on other than the same machine that recorded it. Over time, the same camcorder may not play it.

hmmm... i wasn't aware of that.

ok... what would you suggest i do?
i was thinking of recording onto vhs.
and then transferring to the pc.

or maybe record straight to a dvd?

my end platform will be to display on a website in a relatively small screen, so quality won't be an issue.

    thanks.

Will it play on the camcorder that recorded it? You may need to capture it analog.
