    AVIcodec is ideal.It gives you information on Multimedia Files and the Codecs and Filters installed on your system.

    Or the 'old fashioned' way: Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Devices>Hardware. Scroll down to 'Video Codecs, Properties>Properties.

    That will at least tell you what Windows thinks are your Video codecs. Audio codecs are also there.
