I'm trying to grab the iMac introduction stream from rtsp://a2047.v1412b.c1412.g.vq.akamaistream.net/5/2047/1412/2_h264_350/1a1a1ae555c531960166df4dbc3095c327960d7be756b71b49 aa1576e344addb3ead1a497aaedf11/oct_event_2_h264_350.mov but when I open it (I put that URL in a text file named imac.ram) ffmpegX just freezes up. I have to force quit to get it to continue. I have installed the Real libs as described on the web site.

    Any suggestions?

Where does it say anything about ffmpegX saving/converting streaming video?

I don't know that it does. I thought the RM option would allow it to read any Real file. I guess I need to capture the stream first then convert it?

Probably. Not to mention that it's not a Realmedia file you want to save (note the .mov at the end).

I think this is just a H.264 video file streamed using RTSP. Any ideas how to capture? I may not even need to convert if I can just capture the stream locally.

In theory you could do it with VLC and the advanced output, but it looks like h264 isn't that well supported ATM. The 0.8.4-test1 version plays the stream, but I haven't had any luck in saving it. Perhaps when the final version of 0.8.4 is released.

Thanks. I tried VLC first actually but didn't have any luck. I was using 0.8.0 and could only get audio. Glad to hear 0.8.4 at least plays the stream.
