In general what is the best cd or cd brand for burning data, not nessacerialy just vcd's. Thanks.

They all record the same, but for durability, stay away from anything that is silver on top can scratch easy down to the data. I think HP has the best media.

I read somewhere that Verbatim were good - no coasters. My experience is that with the right software, Verbatim did indeed work well.

From personal use I found that Sony makes the best media. I use an iMac with built in CD-RW drive and for some reason it would reject most Memorex and some Verbatim discs. I know that most NON iMac burners work fine with everything, but if my burner was having problems with CD-R's that work fine that must tell you something. The only drawback is that you have to pay between 25-30 dollars per 50 pack. Also, stay away from black bottomed CD-R's, they won't play in some audio systems that can normally accept CD-R's.
