Slowly figuring out my new (old) Creative media player. Got encoding to wmv files down.

Is there any way to add chapters or anything that would let me skip ahead to the marked point in the wmv file.

I don't need a menu... just a way to jump ahead instead of FF.

If so... links and explanations would be greatly appreciated.

This is the only thing I have seen. It seems a little out of date (talks about WMV 7 and ASF) but might still help

The bit about chapters is about halfway down in Advanced Techniques.

    Thanks.

I have looked for the ASF indexer tool and cannot find the download anywhere.

Would anyone know specifically where I can this?

Install latest windows media encoder and use the included Windows Media File Editor(it is the asf indexer), it should be in the start menu under Windows Media - > Utilities.

I got it several days ago. Had no idea that it had the function build in.

    Also just found this:

    http://www.geocities.com/myasftools/?200527

Hopefully between these two resources I should be able to figure it out.

    Which creates a new issue:

Is there a way... or what settings would I use if I want to maintain the quality of my currently created wmv files which I want to add chapter's/index's into?

    Forgot to say thanks.

Found a tutorial. Looks very easy - and no reencoding - as long I don't get conflicts.

Sorry... I found it at work. Don't know what exactly I keyed into Google. But it was like on the 4th page. Tried to find it just now and can't.

You really don't need it. It is extremely intuitive.

Just follow Baldrick's lead. Pull in your already converted wmv file, move the cue point anywhere in the timeline, press index, new window opens, press add and create a description, press save and the window closes, repeat to your hearts content.

It is in the windows media encoder and it works.

It does not re encode the file so don't worry about losing quality.
